This is Noffus (short for "noffusale" or "not for sale").
He went from being unwanted at the pet store directly to being
abandoned in an empty basement to being unwanted at the shelter - no
one even looked at him in the six months he was there. He was also
scheduled for euthanasia, so
3 Bunnies Rabbit Rescue
rescued him. We learned from an animal communicator that he was
adamant about the fact that he had never had a real home, that all he
knew was life inside a cage, and that he had always been "for sale"
and unwanted. Looking into his eyes for the first time, I could almost
see how much he wanted to know what a real home was like.
Noffus is very much ready to fight for his place in my home. He and
Tamari
have fought a few times, and Noffus wants his place here. He's still a
little skittish about being handled by humans, but he lets me pet him,
and when he's running around, he hops and binkies a lot.
Noffus has a home now - he is no longer for sale, no longer up for
adoption, and no longer sad. He has settled in nicely, and he was
free-range after only about 2 weeks. Every now and then Tamari chases
him into my bedroom (she's still showing him who the boss is) and I've
woken up a few times to find him hiding in my pillows. It's funny when
he gets chased into my bedroom - he hops up on the bed, and if I'm
there, he crashes into my face, then climbs over my head to find cover.
Noffy and Tamari now hang out together in the living room, mostly
under the couch ottoman. Every now and then he goes to visit the
foster girls who are in the dining room, and he boxes at them to show
them who the boss is (there's a hierarchy here, now, with 4 rabbits
running around - I still don't know what my place in the hierarchy is,
but I know they all consider me the "bringer of yummies".
This is the original shelter listing for him (he was given a temporary
name of Daniel):
Daniel is a young adult, neutered male, mini rex bunny who was found
in the basement of a recently purchased house. Daniel was not neutered
at the time and had been living with 2 young female bunnies! Tickles
and Giggles, have since given birth to Daniel’s babies, the rascal!
Though we have no idea of his actual age, Daniel displays the
behaviors of a young adult who is starting to outgrow the "terrible
teens". As his hormones subside, Daniel is improving each day with his
litter box habits and starting to gain more trust and interest in
humans. Typical of most prey animals, Daniel does not tolerate being
lifted off the ground and will kick and scratch to be let
down. Children should be encouraged to interact with Daniel while
sitting or lying on the floor where Daniel feels most comfortable. For
more information or to meet this velvety soft bunny in person, please
visit the shelter, and don’t forget to bring something special for
Daniel! (He loves parsley!)
